Configure Connections

The Spotlight connection manager opens.

Locate the Spotlight connection

  1. From the Spotlight connection manager, select the connection type.
  2. Locate the connection.

Enable connection

Right click on the connection and select Enable.

If the enable option is unavailable then the number of instances currently being monitored is at its maximum for your Spotlight Cloud subscription or your Spotlight Cloud subscription cannot monitor the connection type.

All Spotlight Cloud subscriptions have a ‘quantity’ field measuring the number of instances Spotlight Cloud can monitor. One monitored instance equates to one database connection, one connection to the operating system host and a connection to the operating system virtual environment.

If Spotlight Cloud is currently monitoring the maximum number of instances for your subscription then the options are as follows. Purchase Spotlight Cloud Professional or top up your Spotlight Cloud Professional subscription. Alternatively, disable a currently monitored connection of the same type so you can enable / monitor another connection of that type. For example, disable one SQL Server connection and so you can enable/monitor another SQL Server connection. To disable a connection, right click on the connection and select Disable.

When the subscription changes from Spotlight Cloud Trial Professional or Professional to Spotlight Cloud Basic you may notice the most recently added/enabled connections are disabled. Fewer instances are monitored on a Spotlight Cloud Basic subscription.

All SQL Server replication connections are disabled on a Spotlight Cloud Basic subscription as a Spotlight Cloud Trial Professional or Professional subscription is required to monitor SQL Server replication connections.
